| Introduction | I am fascinated by plants (PhD). With a lifetime passion for history and studies in art and design this odd mixture gelled into a landscape historian. After being a university lecturer in landscaping and sustainable horticulture, I changed careers and now do the two things I love most, help run our plant nursery devoted to herbs, heritage roses and antique plants, and to writing (something which for too many years was tucked in after 10 pm). My books include titles such as 'Lavender Sweet Lavender', 'Botanica's Organic Gardening','Heritage Gardening', 'In A Unicorn's Garden (medieval gardens), 'The Atlas of Legendary Lands', 'Country Thyme', 'Our Heritage of Old Roses' and 'Organic At Home'. I also edited 'The Cottager' magazine, have contributed to a number of other books including 'The Complete Book of Herbs' and 'Grow Your Own Fruit and Vegetables' and had a radio gardening program. I live on a country property high above a valley, surrounded by semi-rainforest, gardens, and bellbirds and share a tiny cottage with my horticultural photographer husband and two rather elderly pussies. I'm currently working on two books 'Vampires' and The Medieval Book of Everything. |
