| Introduction | I've never been a flag-waver. My country right or wrong? No. I'm acutely aware of just how wrong it can be. That doesn't worry me because I've learnt to chisel a deep divide between the nation and the state, the latter now being viewed as more my enemy than my friend. My nation, on the other hand, is what matters. By nation, I mean my people: the descendants of those who brought civlization to such an unforgiving land. For a man's life to have any meaning it must be a part of something greater. That something greater for me is the preservation of the Australian nation. |
