| Introduction | Hello. My name is Rick Robey. Above you can see my wife, Kumi, and I birding on Mount Fuji. Actually, I have been birding for the last 55 years. This healthy hobby has definitely been ‘good medicine’ for me. Wherever life has taken me I have been watching the birds around me. It started in Cumberland, Maryland when I was just 12 years old. Even in New York City, where I did volunteer work for 36 years I enjoyed compiling my bird sightings & those of my friends in a newsletter: “The Birds Around Brooklyn Bethel.” Later Kumi and I were reassigned & currently are in Osaka, Japan. Here on most days we take a walk or bike for exercise & to survey the Asian birdlife. At present our bird “patch” is along the Kanzaki River just 2 blocks from our home. Actually, wherever I go, whether around the block or around the world, I love watching birds. In my blog I hope to share my joy of watching birds so you also will experience that ‘birding is good medicine’! |
