| Introduction | I'm a middle-aged, middle-income, middle class average American. The daughter of a man who came to this country with a 6th-grade education and almost no money, I can testify to the viability of the American dream as it once was. I believe it needs an overhaul, but that the dream of this country should remain "American" is a goal that seems obvious. What does it mean: American Dream? Do we know any more? Do we still need one? I say we do, and I believe it should be based on a definition that we, the people - not the politicians and definitely not the media - devise. What do you think? |
