Introduction My name is Jennifer Rodrigues and I am currently enrolled in an Education After-Degree at Concordia University College. Prior to this, I completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree also at Concordia, majoring in English and having a double minor in Education and Religion. I have always wanted to be a teacher, however, it was only until I started to volunteer at St. John Bosco Elementary school that I knew my passion was in educating. Through my three years there, I observed, learned, and built friendships with students, teachers, and administrators. By simply being there I learned a lot about the teaching profession. This passion for teaching extended me into teaching Catechism at Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Having my 'own little class' has confirmed my decision of pursuing a career in teaching. These past two years have also taught me a lot about classroom management and how you can't be your students 'friends'.
Interests I cannot wait to fulfill my dream and now goal of becoming a teacher and it is through my passion, and determination that this goal will be achieved. But hold on world, because my dreams and goals don't stop there... When people ask me why I want to be a teacher, of course like everyone else, I love children. Moreover, I want to replace those teachers who simply don't care about the importance of their job and are in it for the benefits. Teaching is so much more than teaching the core subjects, it's about educating students about school, friendship, manners, life skills etc. I believe this is extremely important especially at the elementary level because the teacher plays a significant role in the lives of the children they teach.
