Occupation Associate Professor
Introduction Dr. Debra E Clark, has a doctoral degree in communication, a MLA in cultural studies and art history, and a BS in interdisciplinary studies (journalism/pre-med). She has been an international development manager for a major airline based in the U.K. & negotiated with over 80 countries. She is a published writer/photographer/artist for several magazines, newspapers and academic journals, gallery shows, & now a play. Whilst pursuing her graduate degrees, she became a Post Doc "Science Editor" Fellow, & holds the position of Associate Professor of Communication & Digital Media Studies at the University of Houston, Clear Lake. Her current research is interdisciplinary, spanning a variety of topics including mediated public health, global communication, visual literacy, health communication & disease, art & health communication, and policies as they relate to communication, education & racism. Her passion is developing narratives that emphasize/educate public health communication with images. Her photographs have been in several national & international shows.
Favorite Movies All intellectual, art house, shorts, international crime, political, dramatized nonfiction, documentary and mystery films. "The Dancer Upstairs" and "The Ghost Writer" are favorites.
