Introduction Since moving to Nerang on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia in 2003, my wife and I have been amazed by the amount of wildlife that we have visit us on an almost daily basis, however, I never really got to appreciate it due to long work hours, 6+ days a week. All that changed in July 2007 when I had a massive heart attack which left me with ongoing health issues and left me with plenty of time to appreciate our wildlife visitors. As I recovered I began to assist my wife in her work as a Wild Care volunteer rescuing, rehabbing, releasing, rehoming and even adopting some of the birds that couldn't be released or rehomed. Around the same time I rediscovered an old hobby from my high school days, photography, and started 'shooting'; our visitors and wildlife elsewhere where we live. On these blogs I will cover my recovery and rediscovering photography and the lifestyle changes I needed to make if I was going to live. What needs to be made clear is that these two blogs are interrelated, the wildlife and photography interest and blog would not have come about if I didn't have a heart attack & I probably wouldn't be here today without my wildlife & photography interests.
