Introduction The Teutonia Male Choir (Männerchor) was founded by immigrants of the German-speaking world, in 1854. Even before that time, German-speaking immigrants had come together to preserve the traditions and customs of their ancient homelands. In 1851, the first singing group in Pittsburgh, in the former Allegheny City, met in the Weitershausen Church. From the beginning in 1854, the Teutonia Male Choir was founded under the leadership of Pastor Carl Weitershausen.
