| Introduction | As an art teacher, I believe that the arts are an essential element in a child's education. In art class, students learn so much more than just how to draw and paint. They learn to explore, problem solve, think creatively, work collaboratively, take risks, think globally, and break free from the confines of the academic school day. I not only believe that the arts are essential within the school, but also in the community. There are many unique ways that children can connect with their community through the arts. In art class, we work with each student's individual strengths and interests in order to celebrate each child as an artist who has the capacity to create and explore. It is my goal to foster a love of the arts and a desire to take risks and learn new skills in art class and beyond. |
