| Introduction | History of Construction of Casa Bentley: Casa Bentley's old restored adobe house is one of the oldest houses of Old Todos Santos as a photo taken in 1913, shows in the Cultural Center of Todos Santos. This adobe flows down into a newly built stone castle. The Old Adobe House rests on the original street “Calle del Pilar” that leads from the early Santa Rosa (1730’s) mission to the newly (1830’s) built Plaza church. This adobe was original constructed about 1850 before the villages sugar boom around 1870. The main home was twenty years under construction: 1985 to 2005. The house was conceived, designed and constructed by Robert D. Bentley. The unique reddish-orange metamorphic stone, gathered from the surface of mountain headlands, displays a history of an ancient Pacific sea floor. The stonework is outstandingly clean and well structured. The Casa Bentley’s extensive cacti and tropical gardens are mixed within the reddish stone above the beautiful spring fed oasis that forms the soul of the new and old Todos Santos. |
