Introduction | I began this blog originally to comment on the world at large and all it's quirks. Instead, I found a few months later that the twin duties of being a mom and being treated for breast cancer far surpassed my world commentary. I was diagnosed July 7, 2008, and subsequently found out my right breast was a hive of BC activity. A DCIS lump, stage 1 ILC and stage 2 ILC found in a tumor never picked up by sonogram, mammogram, or MRI. I had an elective left mastectomy and recommended right mastectomy with reconstruction. A major tumor was only found when my right boob hit the pathology table. The tumor was 4.5 cm, 2 of 7 nodes involved, estrogen positive. I could give you all the other numbers but it scares me to put it to paper. Or maybe I've just blanked it out of my head. I've got the most wonderful husband in the world (really!) and three daughters, 19, 11, and 4. I want to be here for them and also, I'm determined to be around to help them stage their own war against this hateful menace that wants to take me away from my family. |
