| Introduction | "The amount of truth you hear is the amount you are responsible for." This was what they told me in church when I was a boy, and it was meant to convey that we bore a great responsibility for all the truth we were hearing. But it struck me that if I had such a responsibility, I would need the means to distinguish truth from fiction, and I certainly wasn't getting that in church! So I studied philosophy, sometimes making the 40 min bike ride to the county library to read the "Great Books of the Western World" anthology in the reference section. Somewhere in that process, I became an atheist. I graduated HS in 1975, and picked up an MS in Physics in 1983, but I still find philosophy to be the best vehicle for examining the foundations and limits of knowledge. Thus my blogs. I hope you find them thought provoking. |
