| Introduction | I come from a middle class Hindu orthodox family from Ahmedabad. When I was sixteen, I told my father, “I want to be a teacher.” My father looked at me solemnly and responded, “teaching is a noble profession, leave it for noble people, we are just middle class…” I did not heed his advice and I am happy for it. I strongly believe that as a teacher I have a great opportunity to mold my students and help them realize their dreams. My father was right. Teaching is a noble profession. To me, it means that I have to rise to the demands of my calling and bring out the nobility that resides within each one of us so that I can motivate others to do the same and impact eternity. |
