| Introduction | I am a single Mum to five awesome kids. I adore all of my children more than anything, but it certainly turned my world upside down as each of their diagnoses were made. All 5 kids and myself, are on the Autism Spectrum in varying ways. Aspergers, High Functioning Autism, Moderate severe Autism and ADHD have played large roles in life. Add in Conductive deafness, Shuddering Attacks, Tracheomalacia, Asthma, Supraventricular tachycardia, Gluten Intolerance and more. Life has certainly given me a full plate... but these words, while they may influence our lives (or have in the past for some of them) in various ways, do not define who my children are. They do not define the kind of Mother I am. They are simply challenges we face together and work with until they are overcome. I take each thing that comes, one day at a time. Over time I have learned the importance of caring for myself as well as my kids. I love my kids and will continue doing all I can to make both their lives, and my own as fulfilling, independent and full of joy as possible. |
