| Introduction | What drew me to holistic practice was that the spiritual aspect is seen as important as the mind and body. Second, holistic medicine emphasisis the importance of looking after yourself-the motto of the British Holistic medical association is 'Physician heal thyself.’ It puts the practitioner’s health central to their work. I have been in general practice in the South Coast for 30 years and have now gone part time. This gives me more time to explore things I am interested in to a greater depth. Also doing some sessions keeps me in touch with current practice. I published a book in 1998 called ‘Optimum healing’ as a guide to spiritual health for patients. I am a trustee of the British Holistic Medical Association and of the Janki Foundation for Global Health. I was President of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers from 1997-2001 and presented the evidence on healing to the House of Lords Committee on Complementary medicine. My biggest achievement has to bring up four beautiful and well adjusted children. |
| Interests | My passion is facilitating workshops on ’values’ to healthcare practitioners. This is something I have done over the last four years in the UK and overseas in India, South Africa and China. I have kept a dream journal since I was 22 years old and now have recorded over 800 dreams. I like gardening, running, cycling and swimming. I am interested in mythology, history, philosophy, and practice meditation. |
