| Introduction | Married to Pete for 40 years with two sons. Pete had a massive stroke in July 2012. I took unpaid leave from work to care for him and briefly returned to work in April 2013. Unfortunately in May/June Pete's condition deteriorated and I became his carer and gave up work. Although he made excellent physical progress for the first few months, this has now almost all gone. Our biggest problem is Pete's severe aphasia - he has no communication tools AT ALL. I used to think we could beat this but, sadly, it now looks as if it will be permanent. Life can be very difficult for us but we struggle on regardless!! |
