| Introduction | With a university degree in biology, I find inspiration for most of my work in nature and its inherent treasures, with a desire for the protection and preservation of natural phenomena. My paintings are created from my own sketches or photos but occasionally I will paint on location. My wooden spoons and kitchen utensils are carved from locally salvaged wood. A resident of Cadboro Bay, on Vancouver Island, I am frequently found hiking in lower island parks with my sketchbook and binoculars. Artists I admire and who have influenced my work include Edvard Munch, Vincent van Gogh, Andy Shutse Lou, Tom Thomson and the plethora of Traditional Chinese painters and Japanese artists who created and left a legacy of artwork through the centuries. |
