| Introduction | My name is Aileen Malig. I'm currently a grad student USC. In 2006 (my last year at UCLA) I became a mother to beautiful baby boy. I graduated at UCLA on the top of my class in departmental honors, college honors and the honors deans list and completed a two year research dissertation on the psychosocial experience and dynamics of immigrants and their American-born children relative to autonomy, personal-decision making, and sexual restraint. While my interests still center on these most important matters, my experience as a mother who wanted to continue higher educated and/or a mother in general, brought light the issues of women and children and single parents. In school, we learn about a variety of social issues and whether it be at a domestic or international level, women and children are most affected. We, as graduate student parents, occupy a unique space and have this wonderful and privileged opporuntity to be a voice for people who can't be here and what better place to start then our home and own our schools. Follow-me on my journey as I document my experiences to fight for student parent rights. Fight On Trojans!!!! |
| Interests | Breaking the silence of students parents, voicing student-parent concerns, and organizing interested people that have have the passion to change current school policies that will improve the system. Women, children, poverty, immigration, diverty, women's rights, art, photography, poems, and much much more... On a more personal level, I'm practicing a more holistic approach to life--being healthy through mind, body, spirit and soul work together and intertependent factors that promote overall health. Take some time to take care of yourself. It's makes a major difference when helping other people. |
| Favorite movies | I need "Followers." I think I need to learn how to that first. |
