| Introduction | From the outside looking on you would see an almost 60 year old grandmother who likes to read and write online and works as a land agent. Inside I am really much, much younger and trying to move toward a more sustainable, ethical and organic use of our local resources. Gardening is a passion, both flowers and food. After 5 years of amending, digging, composting, amending, digging and tossing rock after rock, I have finally accepted that my backyard was once a rocky, gravelly driveway. In 2011, I will be starting a version of square foot gardening in raised beds about the yard. This climate is very changeable. We are right now in a cool, wet cycle. The broccoli, cauliflower and greens did splendidly last year. My tomatoes were okay, but it was too cool and they needed help in ripening.
