Introduction The inspiration for Missions for Vision originated in 2005 on a Medical Mission trip and I was touched by the Ecuadorian people and their needs,I prayed God would enable me to carry on with what he had put on my heart. In 2006 my dream became a reality.I didn’t know how I was going to carry out this mission, but I knew it was something that I had to do. I recruited 10 volunteers. A chance phone call resulted in two Eye Doctors from Mt. Home, Dr. Jeffrey Gibbons and Dr. Nathan Price and their staff, joining our team, enabling us to give the people in Riobamba, Ecuador, where we were going that year, more complete eye examinations. Our team became a real family during the days ahead and lifetime friendships were born. In 2007 the team headed for Quito and the poor towns that surrounded it. The challenges were many but the rewards were greater than anyone ever imagined. Seeing a young girl who was mentally challenged and dependent on a wheel chair because she couldn’t see well enough to walk safely, have an eye exam, get fitted with the perfect prescription for her and then watching her get out of her chair and dance around the room was a miracle that we will never forget.
