Introduction "Love don't make things nice."
--Ronny Cammareri, Moonstruck

I am a young 30-something widow with two crazy, energetic, uninhibited, blast-off/kapow/alakazaaam kids whose energy and livelihood keep me going -- and give me a much deeper understanding of the Rolling Stones song "Mother's Little Helper."

This blog was originally co-authored with my husband Paul Hawthorne who was diagnosed with Primary Amyloidosis in August 2008. We started the blog as a way to update friends and loved ones on his medical treatment and eventual recovery. Unfortunately, the ending was not a happy one. Ultimately, the relentlessness of Amyloidosis was too much for Paul's body to handle. He died on December 20, 2008.

I am grieving, yet slowly finding ways to live again without my soulmate, my cosmic connection.

I keep this blog going as a way to preserve my own sanity, to honor Paul, to work through my grief and sadness, and to connect with others who are faced with amyloidosis, widowhood, loss, parenting struggles, or all of the above.
