Introduction | 5000 CDs and 5000 LPs. Avid collector of Reader's Digest, Concert Hall (including MMS), World Record Club, and a multitude of cheap vinyl labels. Most popular CD label: Naxos. Likes: open mindedness. Dislikes: narrow minded pretentious snobs. Must get around to transcribing some of my favourite vinyl to digital - sometime? |
Interests | Traveling, walking, diverse cultures, challenging the mind. |
Favorite Music | Mainly classical - but also a diverse range of other genres, provided they adhere to high production values. JS Bach - you can keep! Give me Rameau, Telemann, Vivaldi and the Bach sons anytime. I'm a megalomaniac - I only really enjoy orchestral, opera and operetta - chamber and instrumental music does nothing for me. Favourite period: Romantic - Bruckner, Mahler, Puccini, Strausses, Rachmaninov, Verdi. Dislike discordant "plink/plonk" music of the avante-garde, however enjoy minimalism. Prepared to try any music, of any genre, provided it is melodic. |
