Introduction I have always been an observer; that is why I carry a sketchbook wherever I go. As an only child drawing was one way I entertained myself. It is also a way of recording the passing carnival of life. On the one hand I might record the banal, in an effort to find something entertaining. However, I always enjoyed visiting other lands, times and dimensions, even if only in my imagination and via books and documentaries (rather than astral projection). One source of imagination was my childhood collection of toy soldiers, now morphed into the 100s of 1000s. It is still a source of imagination and creativity as I paint 1000s of 54mm figurines and use them in wargames in historical and imaginary settings.
