| Introduction | I am the founding director of the Iraqi Children's Art Exchange (2001) which uses photography, art and art-inspired projects to advocate for Iraq and for Iraqis. Our work sits at the intersection of education and psychology, art and medicine, resilience, psychosocial intervention and children's rights as articulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Baghdad Resolve: An International Collaboration to Improve Cancer Care in Iraq is our response, in 2013, to the ongoing crisis for children in Iraq, especially children suffering from cancer and leukemia. Our goal is to improve diagnosis, care and outcomes of pediatric cancer patients in Iraq. We want to create opportunities for international partners to work with Iraqi doctors, hospitals and civil society organizations in developing and sustaining holistic projects and programs to identify and help meet the needs of pediatric cancer patients, their families and the doctors, nurses and medical staff who care for them. |
