Introduction | My husband Raph and I were married in 2006. We went through two years of infertility treatments before deciding to adopt. In September of 2007, another cycle failed. Feeling drained emotionally, psychologically and physically, we chose not to continue with the fertility clinic. Instead, we went away on vacation to Paris for a week, just the two of us, to re-charge ourselves and plan for our future. We considered adopting from China, but we were not thirty years old yet and the wait is up to five years now for a baby. Furthermore, we were hearing a lot of positive stories coming from the Philippines. Apparently the orphanages are clean and the children are loved and well taken care of, and this is important to us. We began the process in October 2007 and started doing some research on the internet. We attended meetings and classes and did our home study. Our folder with all of the required paper work was finally completed and ready on December 20th, 2008. On February 10th, we received ICAB approval, which means we are officially on the list. We found out we were approved on February 23rd. Now, we sit back and eagerly wait for our referral and to be matched with our forever child. |
