Introduction | I have worked in restaurants, the artist supply industry, higher education, and the healthcare industry. I have published two book with a reputable academic press. My heritage is Italian (father) and Dutch (mother). My political slant is far left but I have voted Republican (many years ago). In my recent years I have become a champion for human rights. I had never voted for a winner in the US presidential race until Barack Obama. Sports are very important to me and I enjoy competition. I am a huge fan of the New York Mets and the Tampa Bay Rays. In my youth I played baseball, football, tennis, and ice hockey. In my twenties and thirties I played right-center field on an extraordinarily good softball team -- a nucleus of six played together for 15 years. We finished as high as fifth in the city of Tampa in 1987. There is a part of me that believes that I will not rest until I achieve that level of teamwork again. Now I am in mid-career as a college professor and am embarking on some projects which explore the state of higher education in the United States. |
