| Introduction | My name is Jessica and I am 35 yrs old. 9 years ago I contracted Lyme Disease. Fluctuating heart rate,intermittent rheumatoid arthritis pain, extreme muscle weakness, tremors and memory loss followed. I lost my job, apartment, ability to care for myself, and spent a year bouncing between homeless shelters, friends houses and the hospital. 5 years ago I moved into my dad's spare room and for the last 3 have required a motorized wheelchair to maneuver outside the house. Without cash benefits from the government, my focus is on raising funds to meet my daily needs and pay for treatment. Throughout this ordeal there have been moments when I have considered giving up, but I refuse to let this illness win. I am writing this blog in hopes that others will gain some inspiration from my story and know that they are not alone on their journey. |
