About me

IntroductionHaving taught philosophy for over 30 years I still have no patience for the abstract mind-puzzles that often dominate philosophy classes, e.g. "is the world really there?" That is why I have been attracted to American Pragmatism (two of my books are on John Dewey) and now have turned to philosophy and food. Resulting books: I Eat, Therefore I Think, Rowman & Littlefield, and Philosophers at Table, with Lisa Heldke, Reaktion Books. Philosophy will once again return to its Socratic roots when it starts by recognizing humans as flesh and blood creatures, cooking and eating animals, with all that that entails.
