| Introduction | My book based on my doctoral dissertation (about to be published in Rodopi Publishing House, Series in the philosophy of Karl R. Popper and Critical Rationalism) is titled: CLOSED EDUCATION IN THE OPEN SOCIETY: KIBBUTZ EDUCATION AS A CASE STUDY. I am a concerned friend of the open society. I pride myself in having been expelled, as a teacher, from four schools: in three of these I was openly expelled for professing fallibilism and practicing the critical approach. I have likewise failed to acquire the discursive style of the two environments of my interest – the educational (you will never catch me trying to "mould the characters" of my charges or to "instill values" into them) and the philosophical (you will never catch me talking of "narratives" and "discourses", and I have no idea what "the other" is). But I am no failure: I convinced Sivan to accept me against the better judgment of friends and relations. |
