| Introduction | I've been living and working in Lira, northern Uganda for 2 1/2 years. Coming to Africa was not on the list of things I wanted to do with my life. Living and working here has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Thank you for sharing it with me. For many years I've felt a calling on my life to work with those people who are poor, oppressed, marginalized or neglected. I myself am one of those people. I hope the writings shared here will draw you closer to the heart of Jesus, for He is, "...a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat."
