| Introduction | 札幌市所有の文楽人形を舞台で遣おうと始まった「人形浄瑠璃講習会」の受講生たちが集まり旗揚げしました。 「あしり」とは、アイヌ語で「新しい」という意味で、新しい感性で伝統芸能を創っていこうという意気を込めています。 北海道の皆様ひとりでも多くの方に人形浄瑠璃の面白さを知っていただこうと、各地で公演を行っています。@))---)-≫--- Ashiri-za, founded in 1995, is the only company that performs ningyō-joruri in Hokkaido. In order to re-establish this classical Japanese artform in a city where no such tradition previously existed, the company travels across the island to perform and conducts regular workshops about Japanese puppet theater. In 2007 their performance, entitled Tsuri-onna, received critical acclaim at the Tokushima Cultural Festival. To represent the excitement and opportunites of a new beginning for this traditional artform, the company choose the Ainu word ashiri (meaning new) and the Japanese za (troupe, theatre) for their name. |
