Introduction I am an enigma in so many ways. Since infancy I have confused medical experts, defied their expectations, and written my own textbook. I just celebrated my 29th birthday after having been diagnosed as terminal at 6 months of age with less than 6 months to live. I do believe that God vetoed that memo. Up until October 2008 I was a special education teacher, an avid hiker, an amateur photographer, a history fiend who loved the museums in DC, a lover of all things literary, a dreamer, a star gazer, an advocate, a rebel with a cause, a one of a kind Christian, an aunt, a daughter, and a friend. Some of those things changed when I developed progressive spastic paraplegia and exchanged my hiking boots for a wheelchair, but the most important things remained. Life is in each moment, each breath, and I live in each one fully aware that there is no guarantee of another and fully thankful for the one I have been given.
