| Introduction | This is my effort to share with friends and family the way I see the beauty, frustration, and everyday reality of Bolivia, where I will spend the next year volunteering at Hogar Sagrado Corazon as a Salesian (Catholic) lay missioner. The Hogar is a home for abandoned, abused, and orphaned girls, infants to 18-year-olds, run by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. About two years ago, I started this blog to share my stories from my semester of study in Heredia, Costa Rica. I will continue writing "Pura Vida," in a sense to redeem the blog I failed to write there. By following the thread from that time, I also acknowledge the roots of my love for the Spanish language and the people who speak it (thank you, to my Tican family) and the spirit in which I began. My aim was then and is now: to experience fully and take JOY in a "pure life" devoted to serving God's will, learning to love and be present to others as Christ would.
