| Introduction | About me: I was born on the day of a partial solar eclipse. A student of pure mathematics, I soon realized that I was never going to have a normal life (mathematics was the least of it!)--which I have gradually learned to turn into a virtue. Meanwhile problems in the foundations of mathematics (and a life implosion) led me to Zen Buddhism, and thence to other spiritual practices, as well as my current interest in ritual music, drums, and singing bowls. I became a student of civilization-collapse in 2004 and then realized that some three decades previously my high-school teachers (who were very good) had tried to warn me of this. My life has proved to be a mixture of pure drifting and esoteric study, which currently includes organic gardening, foraging, and paleo-astronomy. |
