| Introduction | I took a 6 month sabbatical in 2015, beginning on January 1st. The focus of my time was learning about immigration and its impact on the family system and on children's growth and development. My primary focus was on the US southern border, the western states (Arizona, California, Oregon and the Washington) experience of Mexican migrants into the US. I visited New York City and witnessed some of the historic sites of the European migration (Ellis Island, NY Tenement Museum, State of Liberty, etc) and learned about how important worker justice is for vulnerable communities. I read, wrote, studied and soaked up a whole new appreciation for the experience of immigration. Most of all I learned the value of blogging. I started my new blog to honor my own journey through life. |
