| Introduction | Woodworking was always an interest but six very active kids and work took priority until all the kids were gone. I then dabbled some but there was no room for any stationary tools (kids were gone but we were still storing much for them.) When retirement was only a few years off we began looking around to see where we would like to spend those years. My wife found a great place on the internet, we took a couple days off and went to look at it. The place was great, very nice house, some land (forest and meadow) and a great view. Not mentioned in the realty posting was a large metal shop building. We bought it and I began buying tools. Retirement was delayed a little so by the time we were able to move there the shop was well equipped. I've built a number of pieces of furniture for our house, kids, and friends learning and making mistakes as I went. I read a lot, joined some on line forums but the best investment by far was joining Mark Spagnuolo's Wood Whisperer Guild. I have learned much from his very detailed videos. |
