| Introduction | I was born Samuel Langhornen Clemens on November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri. I was one of seven children born to John Marshal and Jane Lampton Clemens. During my life I was known as an American humorist, satirist, lecturer and writer. My two most famous novels are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I was a vegetarian and was opposed to vivisection of any kind. I married my wife, Olivia Langon, in February 1870 in New York. Together we had four children; Langdon, Susy, Clara, and Jean. My dear wife Olivia died in 1904, and I followed her six years after on April 12, 1910 of a heart attack in Redding, Connecticut. |
