Introduction	Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport, which combines competitive, free-technique cross-country skiing and small bore rifle marksman ship. The word competition is used in Biathlon instead of race because it is not only a race but a combination of two different competitive activities. Biathlon is a highly popular spectator sport, drawing huge audiences in both the stadium and on TV, particularly in central Europe. The intense spectator interest is not surprising because Biathlon offers a wide spectrum of concurrent dynamic activities during a competition – for example in the pursuit a spectator can view starts, shooting, penalty loop and finishes simultaneously. As well, very exciting viewing can be found on the competition trails where the competitors pit themselves against challenging up hills and descents.
