| Introduction | Now retired, I was a professional glass artist since the early 1980’s, working primarily in stained glass and kiln-fired (fused) glass. I completed many commissions for homes and businesses, working with clients to find a direction that suited the site, the client’s desires and my own aesthetic sensibilities. My personal, non-commissioned art primarily portrays natural themes using the ancient technique of fused glass. Specially formulated glasses are used in sheet and crushed form, composed in layers, and melted in a kiln to create free-standing art glass, original bowls and platters, and window panels. I began exploring the craft of stained glass as a hobby in 1979. I then studied drawing, painting and design at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, and also became proficient in a variety of glass techniques through many courses and workshops. Continuing a glass career established in Toronto, I moved north to Muskoka and sold my work for many years through galleries across Canada, and participated in several studio tours and craft shows. |
