Introduction	Family history has become a popular pastime with many people. They have learned the names and places where their roots began. But what do they really know about them? Their lives have been reduced to stark facts. Is that really their only legacy? Who were they? As a writer, I enjoy exploring characters. I want to find out who they really were and tell their stories the way they might if they could. No longer will they just be dates on a page but real people, with flaws and insecurities like the rest of us, hoping to make the future brighter for their children. We owe them our thanks. We owe them our attention. We owe them our very lives.
