| Introduction | According to the typology test, my political ideology is "Social Conservative." A little bit of my background - let's just say Mom is not going to be happy about this. She is a passionate democrat, and my dad, though quieter about his opinions, also leans to the left. But I am my own person and the things that matter to me are not all necessarily important to my parents. Over the last six years, I have voted in two presidential elections, and that's about it. I did fairly well on the civics quiz - 77% (I'm a good guesser, I guess.) I have to admit, I've been slacking on following politics up until pretty recently ("New to the News"). I answered 7 out of 12 questions correctly on the current events quiz. On both quizzes, there were some that I knew right away, but I also felt a little ashamed that I had no clue about some. However, I truly am excited about this class and hope that I learn a lot from it and will find government more interesting because of it. I have realized that ignoring/not paying attention to politics doesn't make its affect on my life any less real, and it is a valuable thing to be knowledgeable about. |
