| Introduction | I'm a young agent, which means I'm actively looking for new clients. I spend my work days making submissions, negotiating contracts, and dealing with the various hydra heads of publishing (contracts, royalties, editorial, marketing, subsidiary rights, permissions) on behalf of our agency's many active clients. Outside of work I read queries and manuscripts constantly. In my limited time as an agent I have gleaned at least some knowledge as to how this whole publishing thing is supposed to work, and I would like to share this information with you.
