Introduction[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] The grand waterway we call the Thames can be considered in 4. From Thameshead to Teddington Lock is the non-tidal Thames. From the Lock to the Barrier at Woolwich is the Tidal River Thames. From the Barrier to Margate on the south coast and Shoeburyness on the north is the Thames Estuary. And then there is the Prehistoric Thames, an immense shifting watercourse that flowed north of its present course past Clacton-on-Sea in Essex and, at times, as far north as Happisburgh in Norfolk. The Thamesathon Run includes them all. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
