| Introduction | Nyx is the primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near the beginning of creation, and is the mother of personified gods such as Hypnos (sleep) and Thánatos (death). Nyx occupies a cave on the acropolis at Megara, in which she gives oracles, and is a figure of exceptional power and beauty. |
