Introduction | Before entering the world of professional development full-time, I was a middle and high school teacher. My passion is literacy and reasoning skills, and helping students who are at-risk of school failure. I retired after 28 years in the public school system. I worked in adult education, middle school, and for the last 12 years of my career, I was at the high school. My interests center on adolescent literacy, reading improvement, teaching in urban school districts, educational technology, coaching, and figuring out how change can be facilitated in today's modern school. I now am lucky enough to work with the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning implementing adolescent literacy initiatives across the country. It is pretty cutting edge stuff; we are learning a lot! |
