| Introduction | Artists like to think that their job is to record the beauty of the visual world in as many ways as can be imagined. I paint to show and tell the beauty that surrounds us. Even though I graduated with a degree in painting from ASU, it took many years of studies under the professionals at the Scottsdale Artist School for me to become a better painter and call myself an artist with pride. Before then, I painted using works of Van Gogh and Cezanne as my mentors. I still do. My idea of a good painting consists of four most essential elements: good composition, values, right temperature and mood. The mood is actually the atmosphere, which translates the quality of light through the use of Color Theory. But from time to time I like to explore different techniques and knowledge to move forward and to push my limits. Oil is my favorite medium because it is rich, flexible and forgiving, like a friend. |
