| Introduction | This past summer my wife and I took our two sons to Vermont for ten days. We hiked and swam, went for runs and rides, sat on the porch of our small rented cabin and watched the movement of the sun. The simplicity was mesmerizing. Traveling through the winding roads I frequently noticed farmers out walking through their fields, just taking stock of their lands. That image of a man out surveying his land, walking in the early morning or late evening and observing the world around him, was the inspiration for this blog’s title. That is what this is: my reflections on both my internal and external landscapes, my thoughts about the complex world in which we live. Topics range from my job as a public school educator, to my role as a father and husband, to my love of running and the outdoors. Thanks for reading. |
