| Introduction | I am the wife/ carer / travel coordinator / social secretary / of Stephen Wright! Or Wrighty as he is known to his friends! In June 2009 Steve was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer or as he puts it “A nuisance but at least it is during the summer and I have the ashes and golf to watch!”! Since his diagnosis Steve has had multiple scans, x-rays and an operation to remove his Kidney and then going through 2 rounds of High Dose Interlukin 2 (HDIL2) and then on a life extending drug called Sutent and now about to start Afinitor. Forgive me if I talk about “We” during the blog but at times it feels as though it is “we” I feel like I’ve done an advanced diploma in medicine over the last few weeks ! Hence Steves new nickname for me Dr Hewitty! And much to Steves disappointment and at times frustration have attended every doctors appointment since this all started. Since writing this blog Steve has lost his battle to Kidney Cancer but I will continue on with the blog and the work to ensure that as many people know about the disease and to help those who are living with it. |
