| Introduction | The James River Association was established in 1976 as the Lower James River Association by a group of concerned citizens living along the James River. In the mid-1990’s the name was changed to the present James River Association to reflect its involvement in conserving the entire length of the James River, From the headwaters in the Alleghany Mountains to the mouth at the Chesapeake Bay, and the tributaries that comprise the watershed. |
