Introduction	I started this blog in January of 2010 when I weighed 206 lbs and my BMI said I was obese. I stole the idea and the name from the Fat Cyclist and like him have used the blog to motivate myself to lose weight and start road cycling. I had followed cycling for years and wanted to start riding. By the fall of 2010 I completed several 100 km (62 mile) rides, and in the winter I got my first real road bike. After a small detour through endocarditis and open heart surgery, I still am chasing that first true century. My wife hacked my blog and changed the title to Phat Archaeologist. I love the pure ridiculousness of a middle-aged, white archaeologist using an out-of-date gangsta term. So now I am the Phat Archaeologist and I am all that, fo shizzle, yo!
